Registration on LSF

Here you will find information on registration for exchange students and students of all disciplines.

If you are a full-time student at the LMU, please see the registration details on the German Website of the Language Center.

PLEASE NOTE: For registration you will need to have a valid University of Munich Campus login and password (you received this information during enrollment). It is important for you to activate your Campus login as we will be using your campus email for correspondence.

1. Placement Test

Please make sure to check if a placement test is compulsory before registration.

2. Registration for beginner language courses (via Münchner Volkshochschule) in French, Italian and Spanish

Registration for beginner language courses in French, Italian and Spanish is done through the Münchner Volkshochschule (mvhs), who offers these beginner courses.
Note: Registration will be open until the second course session. See the registration period and details on the German website.

For walk-in registration resp. fill-in form registration please see details on the German Website.

Course fee: 89 Euros

  • A certificate of participation will only be awarded to students who have not missed more than 3 classes. The course takes one semester with 2 SWS or 2 ECTS credit points. If you miss the last day of the course, you will need to contact Frau Angela Achille via E-Mail, with the VHS course number to be able to pick up your certificate.

3. Registration for all other language courses (via the Language Center)

Registration for the language courses at the Language Center for the semester courses will take place shortly before the semester starts. You will find the exact date on the German Website of the Language Center.

Please register using the University catalog of Language Courses (LSF).

Missed registration deadline

If you miss any of the registration deadlines, please email the language course coordinator for the language you wish to study. This information can be found under Personen (= staff; German website).

4. Course places and notification

In most cases you will be placed in the course you have registered for.

  • Course is overbooked: If a course is overbooked, we have to randomly select students to fill in the places for that course.
  • Notification: If you are placed in a course, you will be able to see this on your LSF schedule about 2 days after registration has closed. In addition, you will receive a confirmation E-Mail (sent to your Campus E-Mail).
  • First/second course session obligatory: To secure your place in a course, you must attend (at the latest) the second session of the course, otherwise your place will be given to someone else. You are allowed to miss 2 classes.
  • Change of course: A change of course is only allowed under special circumstances and can be done only until the second session of the course.
  • Waiting list: There are no waiting lists for courses.
